Jasna Gora Monastery is a major pilgrimage shrine located in Czestochowa. The monastery is situated on the site of an old castle and has been home to monks since 1382. It was here that the Virgin Mary was said to have miraculously saved the monastery from Swedish invaders in 1655.

The main attraction is a spectacular painting of the Black Madonna which dates back to around 1400 AD. For centuries this painting has been linked with miracles, healing and protection for those who pray before it.
