The English Market

Filled with exotic smells, colourful stalls, and foods from across the globe, Cork City’s English Market is a spot to experience the entire world through food. The Irish locals and visitors from all over flock to the eclectic market to find fresh craft foods that have been prepared on the spot in one of the many restaurant stalls or to collect foods for a fine dinner to be made at home from the variety of sellers of local and imported meat, produce, and gourmet goods.

In the centre of Cork City, the market has been feeding Ireland and introducing new cuisine to the country since 1780, before Ireland was its own republic. Through famine, war, and natural disasters the market has remained a constant for the people of Cork and is a staple for Irish restaurateurs, foodies, and families.

A trip to Cork cannot be complete without a stroll under the vintage yellow awnings of the English Market, filling up on teas, soda breads, and Irish delicacies as you pass through the many stalls and cafés inside!

A place withany shops that sells meat, fish pastries, veggies and fruits and even they have cafe and a restaurant inside. Dried fruits shop, marinated chicken and meat shops and so on. The pastry shops were too good . Being a visitor to cork I must say it's a must visit place in Cork city.

The English Market was a highlight of my trip to Cork. If you like authentic experiences, don’t miss visiting this place. There are plenty of options for food, not to mention fresh meat, chicken, fish, and homemade goodies.

This place blew me away . The layout was intriguing fascinating and a pure delight for Any foodie like me . It reminded me in many ways of the markets in far off countries I have explored only much cleaner. With its side passages to explore with new delights to smell and treat you taste buds to . I loved the way the stall holders were happy to...

Only after the day was done I met a local that said to do Quay or Marina Market instead. Oh well! It was nice! I bought a ton of olives and some cheese, delicious! The sushi was decent & the kombucha fantastic! Very helpful staff at On The Pigs Back.

Absolutely lovely market. If I lived closer I’d be there constantly. Instead I had to settle for just a something I could eat straight away and got a delicious sandwich.
