Sailing along Pakleni islands

The Pakleni Islands are a chain of rocky islets just off the coast of Hvar. This beautiful archipelago is a popular trip as it offers some of the most breathtaking beaches and the best snorkeling in Croatia.

The Pakleni Islands Archipelago is about 10 km (6.2 mi) long and consists of 14 islands or islets. The 3 most popular and interesting of these islands are Sveti Klement, Marinkovac, and Jerolim.

Across the Hvar Strait, on the Pakleni Islands Archipelago, you’ll find picturesque coves, stunning beaches, hip bars, and beautiful nature. The Pakleni Islands, also referred to as Paklinski Islands, are the perfect place to bask in the Mediterranean sun, swim in the clear Adriatic waters, and have what many believe is very good time. These islands are, after all one of the most popular day trips from Hvar!

The name Paklinski Otoci is often translated as Hell or Hells’ island, but it is actually derived from paklina, an archaic name for a kind of a pine resin used to waterproof boats that was once harvested on the Pakleni archipelago.

If you feel ready to set sail, a trip to the Pakleni Islands may be just what you’ve been searching for.

We had a great onward speed boat ride (Blue Shark company). The blue water caves were wonderful. The return boat ride was too bumpy and the skipper would not reduce speed hoping it would make the ride enjoyable

10 years ago it was one of the nicest area of the part of the Adriatic. Today it is an overcrowded over priced area. Some bays looks like the Tokyo metro in rush hour. Prices are in the sky. Of course the Hvar is very near which is an exiting a beautiful town but overtourism is serious.

The most beautiful part of the Adriatic, which has 2718 hours of sunshine per year, is a place of unreal nature and numerous archaeological secrets.
