Hotel Schloss Hertefeld is our family legacy. For over 800 years we’ve owned this historic castle hotel, and have stuck with it as it’s evolved through time – even when it was destroyed in the war in 1945. Decades later, in 2004, we partly rebuilt the property and transformed it into Germany’s only inhabitable castle ruin… a luxury experience with more than a touch of history at its heart. You’ll love the architecture in this baroque building, and the unique rooms and suites on offer. Stay in the former guard houses or castle tower for a getaway with a strong sense of heritage. Alternatively, the Heaven’s Suite is the perfect room for lovers. Among the most contemporary spaces we offer, this suite not only has two bathtubs, but you can open up the roof to gaze up at the night sky, too. It’s spectacular on a starry night. The special experiences at Hotel Schloss Hertefeld don’t stop there. Have breakfast in our atmospheric cross vaults or under the sun among the castle ruins, surrounded by a beautiful castle park that you’re welcome to explore. What’s more, if you want to go a little further afield, you can rent a bike from us – just ask a member of staff to assist you. Free parking is also available on-site.

While we don’t offer a dinner service at Hotel Schloss Hertefeld, you know what they say… breakfast is the most important meal of the day. We’ve gone above and beyond to make sure your stay is tailored to your tastes and interests – enjoy afternoon tea in our atmospheric library, learn about the hotel’s history from one of our knowledgeable staff, or take part in one of the short day trips we’ve put together to help you get to know the local area. You can even bring your dog to Hotel Schloss Hertefeld… they’re sure to love our sweeping green grounds as much as you will.
Getting married? Our historic hotel is all yours. When you choose Hotel Schloss Hertefeld as your wedding venue, we reserve the entire castle for the day so that our staff can focus entirely on you. Get married in one of our gorgeous ceremony-friendly areas – our fireplace room, garden room or fairytale pavilion in the castle park – followed by a champagne reception.
