Archeological Museum of Rhodes

Explore the Archeological Museum of Rhodes

The Archeological Museum of Rhodes offers visitors an informative journey through history. Located in the Old Town of Rhodes, the museum is housed in the Medieval building of the Hospital of the Knights, in the Palace of the Grand Master. The construction of this building began in 1440 and was completed in 1948.

Today the Archeological Museum houses ancient artifacts and art from across Greece, spanning several millennia. From sculptures to pottery, visitors can explore a variety of objects that tell stories about life during Classical antiquity and beyond.

The museum is divided into two sections: one dedicated to ancient Greek art and artifacts and another focused on Roman remains found around Rhodes. The permanent collection includes works from several important archaeological sites such as Ialyssos, Kamiros, Kritinia, Lindos, Monolithos and Prasonisi.

While the objects inside the museum are certainly of interest for visitors, the entire building is something to experience for those traveling that do not hail from countries with such a unique architecture.

An afternoon can easily be spent here soaking up Greek history, architecture, culture.
