Fels von Cashel

The Rock of Cashel is an iconic Irish landmark and one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations. Situated in County Tipperary, this ancient site boasts an array of archaeological ruins from the Iron Age through to the Middle Ages. It was once the seat of power for the Kings of Munster, who ruled over much of Ireland until their kingdom fell to Norman invaders in 1101 AD.

Today, visitors can explore a range of fascinating structures such as a 12th-century round tower, Cormac’s Chapel—a Romanesque masterpiece—and a 15th-century castle. The complex also includes St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Hore Abbey, both built around 1200 AD by King Cormac MacCarthy. A visit to this remarkable site offers insight into Ireland’s turbulent past and its rich cultural heritage.
