Historic Hotels of Europe has been named Historic Hospitality Collection of the Year – Dublin, 2026 at the International Explorer Awards.
The accolade is the collection’s third major award recognising its work in historic and heritage hospitality. It follows Historic Hotels of Europe being named Best Heritage Hotels Collection – Europe at the LUXlife Resorts & Retreats Awards in both 2020 and 2021.
The latest award celebrates Historic Hotels of Europe’s carefully curated collection of independent properties, from medieval castles and grand palaces to manor houses, monasteries, villas and landmark hotels. Each member is selected for its historical importance, distinctive character and commitment to preserving Europe’s cultural heritage while delivering exceptional contemporary hospitality.
Founded in 1998, Historic Hotels of Europe now spans 24 European countries, connecting travellers with remarkable places where history remains part of the experience.
Ken Healy, Chairman of Historic Hotels of Europe, said:
“We are delighted to be named Historic Hospitality Collection of the Year. This award belongs to the passionate hoteliers and teams across our collection who care for extraordinary properties and keep their stories alive for future generations.
“Historic hospitality is about much more than preserving beautiful buildings. It is about creating meaningful connections with a place, its people and its past. To receive this recognition for a third time is a wonderful endorsement of the care, character and individuality found throughout our collection.”
The award reflects Historic Hotels of Europe’s continuing commitment to championing independent hotels and the people who serve as guardians of their heritage. Its members offer guests the opportunity not simply to visit historic destinations, but to stay within the stories that have shaped them.
From centuries-old castles and aristocratic estates to former convents and waterfront grand hotels, no two properties in the collection are the same. Together, they demonstrate how thoughtful hospitality can give historic buildings a vibrant and sustainable future.
