Island Mainau

The Island of Mainau, located off the coast of Lake Constance in Germany, is a paradise that attracts visitors from all over the world. With its vibrant colors and lush gardens, Mainau offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Nestled between Switzerland, Austria and Germany, this enchanting island is full of beauty and wonder as it stretches across 55 acres of land stretching into the lake. The island has been owned by the Bernadotte family since 1853, when they bought it from the local government. Since then they have invested heavily into restoring it and turning it into a tourist attraction.

Today visitors can explore an abundance of flowers blooming in colorful meadows and lush gardens filled with exotic plants from around the world, visit the butterfly house or take a stroll through the arboretum with its many unusual trees and shrubs. Nature enthusiasts will delight in the sights they behold while taking leisurely strolls through picturesque landscape walks lined with ancient trees that date back centuries.

The castle on Island Mainau is also open to visitors, giving them an insight into what life was like on this tiny island in days gone by. During summer months there are also many special events taking place such as concerts and outdoor theatre performances.
