San Gimignano

San Gimignano is a small hilltop town in the heart of Tuscany, Italy, renowned for its beautiful medieval architecture and preserved towers. This charming Tuscan town has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of its cultural importance and historical significance.

San Gimignano’s most iconic feature is undoubtedly the 14 remaining towers that stand tall over the city skyline. These towers are believed to have been constructed by wealthy families between 1150 and 1320 as symbols of their status in society. The tallest tower stands at 54 metres high, making it a captivating sight to behold from miles around! As well as viewing these wonderful structures, visitors can take time to explore San Gimignano’s other heritage attractions such as churches and chapels built between the 11th -14th centuries or even sample some of the delicious local produce including Tuscan wines and cold cuts.

Take some time out to explore this timeless gem and discover all that it has to offer – you won’t be disappointed!
