Jasna Gora Monastery

Jasna Gora Monastery is a major pilgrimage shrine located in Czestochowa. The monastery is situated on the site of an old castle and has been home to monks since 1382. It was here that the Virgin Mary was said to have miraculously saved the monastery from Swedish invaders in 1655.

Today, Jasna Gora Monastery is one of the most popular places to visit in Poland. People come from around the world to explore this historic landmark and experience its peaceful atmosphere. The main attraction is a spectacular painting of the Black Madonna which dates back to around 1400 AD. For centuries this painting has been linked with miracles, healing and protection for those who pray before it. Pilgrims also visit the chapel where the famous battle against Sweden took place as well as many other chapels and monuments scattered throughout this historic place.

The monastery houses both a church and museum filled with art collections, artifacts, paintings and sculptures that tell stories about Polish culture and faith.

Visiting Jasna Gora will give you an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of art while immersing yourself into the serenity of faith. You’ll be inspired by both history and spirituality which make this place so special!
