CROATIA

Zlatni Rat beach

Island Brač, where you’ll discover one of the country’s most famous beaches, Zlatni Rat.

The Zlatni Rat, often referred to as the Golden Cape or Golden Horn, is a spit of land located about 2 kilometers west from the harbor town of Bol on the southern coast of the Croatian island of Brač, in the region of Dalmatia. It has been claimed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world by National Geographic and the New York Times on several occasions and is certified as a Blue Flag beach.

The beach is stunning. Though many believe it is a sand beach, it is a pebble beach, covered in fine, small stones that are pleasant to walk on. The waters are clear, turquoise blue to be enjoyed on both sides of the cape. The area of the beach is over 20.000 square meters and can comfortably accommodate over 10,000 people, which it does every summer.

Kite and wind surfers flock to this spot, but is has so much to offer any visitor from the ancient Roman Villa Rustica just steps away from the beach, to restaurants and “Stones of Happiness”, Zlatni Rat is such to captivate all those who come to visit it.

The beach is reachable either by car or by a 20-minute walk along the sea from Bol. Every half hour, a tourist train travels to the ocean, as well as tourist boats that depart from the port of Bol in the summer.

Beautiful beach — definitely worth the visit! I had read several reviews saying it gets very crowded, and since we went in August (high season), we decided to take the 6 a.m. ferry to arrive around 7 a.m. From 7a.m until 9:30-10am the beach was still quiet and almost empty, and we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere for a few hours before it started...

Beautiful beach, no major waves so the water is very flat and swimmable. Sometimes there’ll be some fish in the sea to swim around. Pebble beach so please bring water shoes otherwise you’ll be hobbling, Absolutely beautiful. It’s about a 10min bike ride from the main port.

We arrived by the local Arriva bus service from Supetar to Bol and walked along the promenade to the beach area. The walk is predominantly flat and the pathway is easy to walk. There are places to stop to have something to eat/drink and the public toilets are well signposted. The beach is free to visit and is stunning. There are places where you...

An absolutely amazing place. The beach changed shape every time we went there. The water is crystal clear but it was pretty cold when we were there. Beach was spotless. Easy to rent sun loungers, parasols, etc. Just scan the QR code and pay. Definitely worth a visit if you are on the island.

The beach is very beautiful, the water is clear and warm and its particular shape is interesting to visit. But unfortunately it has become way too tourist-oriented for my taste, everything is insanely expensive (compared to prices on other beaches on the island), it’s very crowded throughout the day, the only natural shade area is under the pines...
