Hiking around Braies Lake

Few places in the world can rival the majestic beauty of Braies Lake in the Dolomite Alps of northern Italy. Nestled in a valley at an altitude of 1,494 meters, this alpine lake has captivated visitors for centuries with its crystal-clear waters and stunning mountain backdrop. The lake itself has a vibrant turquoise colour due to its shallow depth, limestone bottom, and glacial streams that feed into it from the surrounding mountains. It’s no surprise those who have visited Braies Lake find themselves inspired and revitalized by its breathtaking scenery.

Whether you’re an experienced hiker or just an admirer of nature, there is something for everyone to appreciate at Braies Lake. From taking a leisurely stroll around the lake to exploring one of several trails that wind through the picturesque valleys surrounding it, visitors can experience a sense of awe and wonderment from being enveloped by this natural paradise.

For locals, it’s a popular spot for swimming, fishing and hiking in summer; while during winter months many come to cross-country ski or snowshoe around the lake’s edge. Every year thousands of tourists visit Braies Lake to experience its stunning scenery and incredibly peaceful atmosphere – making it one of Italy’s top attractions.

The most beautiful lake. Option to rent boats from 10am. The walking loop around the outside is very easy. The first stretch going anti-clockwise is incredibly accessible with lots of dogs. If you go clockwise, it’s a bit more of a hike with stairs up and down, but very easy. The entire walk has incredible views

Another overrated place in Italy that, thanks to those empty headed influencers, I now place on the same level as Positano. You can literally find many lakes in Italy (and Switzerland, Austria, etc) with the same color water and no crowds. Why on earth would you come here other that because of FOMO. Parking is expensive too (I think it was $10...

Enchanting place! It's really better to go and see it in person. I don't know what other words I can use to describe this place. I can only say that God is really great in his creation of the world. There are many parking lots, but the price also depends on the distance. During high season, it's better to book online, because the parking lots are...

Amazing place, touristic but definitely worth to visit. We came here mid September so it was not packed with people. The lake is beautiful and you must hike around it. The path is around 3-4km and easy. Perfect activity with family. There is an option to rent a boat, i think it costs 50€/h if you want it by yourself or 15€/h with other 5...
