Ballina Salmon Festival, Ireland

Think this festival is all about fish? Think again! Ballina Salmon Festival is arguably one of the most family-friendly festivals in all of Ireland. Highlights include a phenomenal fireworks display and a day devoted to the city’s heritage, which reflects on how the people of Ballina would have lived in times gone by. There’s plenty more going on throughout the week, too.

For those who wish to take part in the festivities, there are a number of fun events and activities to enjoy – from market stalls selling delicious local produce to live music performances on two stages. There’s also plenty of activities suitable for children such as face painting and storytelling sessions. Moreover, the festival offers visitors a chance to learn more about Ireland’s rich fishing heritage with demonstrations on traditional net making and fly tying techniques.

The Ballina Salmon Festival is an annual event that takes place in the town of Ballina, County Mayo in Ireland. Since its inception almost four decades ago, it has grown to become one of the country’s most well-known and vibrant festivals. Taking place each year in July, this lively festival celebrates all things salmon related!
