Sitting on the banks of Lake Constance, the Schloss Wartegg has a long and storied history dating back to 1557. The building has a fascinating history and acted as a refuge for many over the years. In 1789, Marquis de Bombelles, a diplomat serving the French king and his wife, a court lady of the sister of king Louis XVI in Versailles, fled from revolutionary turmoil in France and found exile in the walls of Schloss Wartegg.
Now a haven of a different kind, the castle and spectacular English-inspired gardens have been lovingly restored to create a sustainable, modern hotel with an exquisite organic restaurant. Today, we aim to offer you the warmest of welcomes and a truly unforgettable stay.
Our hotel offers 25 single and double rooms with equally unique viewpoints of the surrounding landscape. Our seasonal restaurant is stocked with produce grown within the grounds of the estate and is open for long lunches, extravagant dinners, or simply coffee and pastries. Our spa is the ultimate in relaxation, with a heated bathing area and sauna, an ideal way to unwind after a day exploring the area.
