Fryksås Hotell & Gestgifveri sits within a historic fäbod landscape, grounded in a way of life that dates back to the 1500s, when farmers brought livestock here to graze through the summer months. Today, more than 150 preserved log buildings remain, forming a rare and deeply rooted cultural environment.
The hotel itself emerged in the early 20th century, as visitors began to arrive in search of fresh air and open views. Set around 500 metres above sea level, we look out across Lake Orsa, surrounding forests and the distant line of mountains beyond.
Nature is always close. In winter, the area is defined by cross-country skiing and alpine trails, while the warmer months open up for hiking, cycling and time spent moving more slowly through the landscape. It is a place guided by rhythm — seasonal, practical and enduring — where the pace of life adjusts almost without notice.

Our menus follow the landscape, guided by regional ingredients and the changing seasons. Each evening, we serve a carefully composed three-course dinner inspired by local produce and the flavours of Dalarna. Tradition sits alongside wider influences, brought together with a light touch. Wide views across the surrounding forests create a calm, welcoming space to settle into the evening.
At Fryksås Hotell & Gestgifveri, weddings carry a strong sense of place and privacy. With exclusive use of the hotel, the house becomes entirely your own, allowing celebrations to unfold at a natural pace. Guests stay overnight, extending the experience beyond a single day. For larger gatherings, additional timber houses across Fryksås Fäbod offer space to keep everyone close, creating a shared atmosphere within this historic mountain village.
Meetings at Fryksås Hotell & Gestgifveri are influenced by the landscape. During the main seasons, smaller groups of up to ten gather in a focused, intimate atmosphere. In the quieter months, the entire hotel can be reserved, offering space for larger groups to work together without distraction. The pace is different here — more considered, with time to think clearly, step outside and return with a renewed sense of focus.
