Set beside the water in the Stockholm Archipelago, our hotel occupies a series of restored 18th-century officers’ quarters, once part of Sweden’s most formidable fortress. Built in 1735 to guard the sea route into Stockholm, the fortress watched over this stretch of coast for more than a century. Today, it’s a place for guided tours, events, or even weddings with a cannon-salute backdrop.
We have just 15 rooms, each modernised with care but keeping the character of the original buildings. You’ll find peaceful gardens, an airy orangery, sea decks for sunny days, and a sense of stillness you wouldn’t expect so close to the city.
Easily reached by car, bus or even RIB boat—around 45 minutes from Stockholm—Fredriksborg offers a different pace. Whether you’re watching the cruise ships glide silently past or settling in for a slow meal as the light changes over the water, it’s a stay that leaves a lasting impression.
Our restaurant keeps things simple but thoughtful, with a focused à la carte menu of carefully prepared dishes, served in spaces that reflect the character of the place. Breakfast is always included, and dinner is available to guests in our cosy dining rooms, light-filled orangery, or out in the garden when the weather allows. For larger gatherings, the wedding tent or fortress can be booked from May to September. Thoughtful food, quietly done, in a setting worth savouring.
