A quiet street lined with pastel-colored buildings, including the charming blue and white Selkirk Arms hotel, under a clear sky.

Building: 1777

We’ve been welcoming guests to The Selkirk Arms Hotel for over 12 years, but our roots in Dumfries and Galloway go back more than three decades. This historic townhouse, dating to 1777, has plenty of stories to tell — including a visit from the famous Scottish poet Robert Burns — and we’re proud to be part of its next chapter.

Set on Kirkcudbright’s High Street, just a short stroll from the working harbour, the hotel makes a great base for exploring southwest Scotland. You’ll find heather-covered hills, hidden coves and riverside walks all within easy reach — or stay close and discover the galleries, studios and pastel-painted lanes of the ‘Artist’s Town’.

Inside, we have 16 comfortable, individually styled rooms, two relaxed dining spaces, and a bar stocked with local whiskies, gins and good conversation. Our menus are seasonal and full of flavour, using the best produce we can find nearby.

Whether you’re here for walking, wildlife, painting or peace and quiet, you’ll find a warm welcome waiting.
