Building: 1899

Built by British naturalist Ethelbert Lort Phillips, Phillipshaugen Lodge is a remote, romantic destination surrounded by the majestic Øksendal mountains. Designed in the Scottish Highland style, the lodge boasts many historic features, such as the original notched timber logs and wood panelling.

The Old Lodge offers 10 bedrooms, with a mix of double rooms, suites, family rooms and four bed rooms, and three newly renovated bathrooms nearby. The more modern wing features 15 bedrooms with shared bathrooms and a guest kitchen, while the tranquil Madagaskar Cottage offers a fully equipped kitchen, cosy living room and private bathroom. Our living rooms are designed for relaxation with log fires and comfortable Chesterfield armchairs. A delicious breakfast is served every morning, while the restaurant offers both traditional fare and international options.

Nestled in the Øksendal valley, Phillipshaugen Lodge is a spectacular place to visit at any time of year. Epic skiing experiences are popular in the winter months while our summertime guests can embark on exciting cycling and hiking adventures. The Øksendalsøra Nature Reserve is just 4km away, perfect for a day of exploration — with the cosy armchairs of Phillipshaugen Lodge awaiting your return.
