A rich history seeps through the air at Castello di Gargonza. From being where Dante spent his exile in the 1300s to a village revered for its connection to the forest – not to mention its roots as an organised 900-hectare farm – many remnants of this property’s past can still be engaged with today.
At our castle hotel, the houses and apartments in which our guests sleep bear the names of their former inhabitants: Argentina, Boccio, Niccolina, and the many other special characters that made up the heart of the hardworking community that once lived here. Enclosed inside its mediaeval walls, these carefully-restored homes have retained the simplicity of rural life, with features including steep wooden staircases, blackened fireplaces and tiny windows looking out on the woods. These are more than just architectural gems – these are echoes of our hotel’s fascinating past.
Today, Castello di Gargonza is a family-run hotel, specialising in rewarding, remarkable and relaxing holiday experiences. Dive into a world of character and culture in the depths of beautiful Tuscany… this is a trip you’ll always treasure.
