Tucked in the quiet folds of the Shibden Valley, our inn has long been a gathering place for travellers and neighbours alike. The setting by Red Beck makes summer evenings linger outdoors, where tables spill into the garden, while winter draws everyone close to the firelight. Over the years, we’ve restored the building with care, keeping its centuries-old character while making space for modern comforts.
Hospitality here is personal. Owners Simon and Caitlin Heaton, with General Manager Glen Pearson, lead a team who believe an inn should feel like a home – somewhere to mark occasions, share good food, and enjoy the company of friends old and new. Our AA 5 Silver Star rooms and 2 Rosette dining reflect the same philosophy: thoughtful details, honest flavours, and a sense that nothing is too much trouble.
Time at Shibden Mill Inn has a way of slowing down, leaving guests already thinking of their return before the first visit is through.

Our eleven bedrooms are quietly individual, each marrying the historic character of the 17th-century mill with modern, luxurious touches. From Classic doubles to the sumptuous Anne Lister Suite, every room features en-suite comforts, tea and coffee making, generous toiletries and thoughtful details that feel boutique without pretension. Whether you opt for a Petit Double or a Superior, you’ll sink into a king-size bed (or charming equivalent), and wake to a hearty breakfast that makes it hard to leave.
Our kitchen celebrates Yorkshire’s seasons, with menus shaped by trusted local producers and the harvest from our own garden just beyond the door. Each dish is crafted with a respect for flavour and a nod to tradition, best enjoyed in the relaxed bar or the characterful Mill Room. When the weather turns kind, the patio garden comes into its own – a place to linger over food, wine, and unhurried conversation.
With capacity for up to 30 guests, we offer an intimate, beautifully atmospheric venue for small weddings. Set against the gentle backdrop of Shibden Valley and beside the babble of Red Beck, it’s perfect for couples seeking warmth, character and detail. Imagine vows shared in the garden or inside by candlelight, followed by food that reflects shared local flavours, wine that inspires celebration, and a stay that turns the day into fond memories.
