The Lungomare promenade, a historical walkway built in 1911, stretches from Volosko to Lovran, providing picturesque coastal views. Just below the hotel, the 19th-century Portić, Opatija’s oldest port, has long been the launch point for traditional excursion boats.
Originally built as a villa in 1836, the southern part of the hotel evolved into Caffé Principe Umberto in 1898, named after Italy’s Prince Umberto. The Viennese architect Carl Seidl transformed it into the Hotel Milenij in 1910. The restaurant, with its frescoes by Karl Ludwig Hassman, captures the essence of Greek mythology, adding a unique historical touch.
